How to Get Here

It's not easy to get here, but for those who make the trip, the rewards more than compensate for the effort.

From Seattle (SEA) 4-1/2 hours

Summer - North Cascades Hwy 20
Pass report: 1-800-695-ROAD or 511 for road conditions (http://www.wsdot.wa.gov/traffic/passes/)

From Seattle, take I-5 Northbound to exit 230 (Burlington/Sedro-Woolley). Turn Right and follow signs for Hwy 20 North Cascades Scenic Highway. (This is a beautiful drive, but please fill up with fuel before crossing the pass. There is no cell phone access for about 70 miles.)
Hwy 20 will take you through Wilderness area and through the western-themed town of Winthrop and then, 9 miles later, to Twisp.

Winter - I-90, Hwy 97
Pass report: 1-800-695-ROAD or 511 for traveler information (http://www.wsdot.wa.gov/traffic/passes/)

From Seattle, take I-90 Eastbound to exit 85 (Wenatchee). Cutoff 970 will lead you directly onto Hwy 97 and over Blewett Pass. When you reach Hwy 2, turn Right and follow to Wenatchee. Look for signs that say Hwy 97 Northbound (Okanogan, etc). Stay on the main Hwy 97 and not Alt 97. About an hour north of Wenatchee, at Pateros, turn Left onto Hwy 153 and follow into Twisp.

From Spokane (GEG) 3-1/2 hours

From Spokane, take Hwy 2 to  Wilbur and turn Right onto Hwy 174 (Grand Coulee). Follow Hwy 174 through Grand Coulee and continue, crossing the Columbia at Chief Joseph Dam (Bridgeport) until you get to Hwy 97. Take Hwy 97 Southbound for 12 miles to Pateros. Turn Right onto Hwy 153 and follow it into Twisp.

From Wenatchee (EAT) 2 hours
